Overview

This project transforms an existing warehouse into a daycare center by introducing a new educational and social landscape within the industrial structure. Rather than erasing the original building, a new geometric system of circles and curves is overlaid onto it, connecting classrooms, courtyards, elevated paths, and rooftop spaces while establishing a clear spatial hierarchy.

At the center is the “Bookshelf Forest,” a shared library that functions simultaneously as architecture, circulation, play space, and community infrastructure. Accessible to children, parents, and neighbors, it blurs the boundary between learning and everyday social interaction, turning the daycare into a small cultural hub for the wider community.

Participation extends to the street façade, where movable wooden panels can be adjusted by children, allowing the building’s appearance to change through daily use. Inside, interconnected circular geometries continue into an elevated running track that links the ground floor, courtyards, upper levels, and rooftop playground.

Through the integration of existing structure, new geometry, bookshelves, interactive façades, and play routes, the former warehouse becomes a continuous environment for learning, movement, exploration, and community life.
